Ukraine Vs Russia

The Russo-Ukrainain has been on going between Russia (alongside Russian separatists in Ukraine) and Ukraine since February 2014. Following Ukraine's Revolution of Dignity, Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine and supported pro-Russian separatists in the war in Donbas against Ukrainian government forces; fighting for the first eight years of the conflict also included naval incidents, cyberwarfare, and heightened political tensions.

 

In February 2022, the conflict saw a major escalation as Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Believe it or not, Ukraine and Russia are still at war and Ukraine's foreign minister said his nation wants a UN-backed peace summit to end the war early in 2023, but only if Russia has faced a war crime tribunal first. Dmytro Kuleba made these comments in a new interview, telling journalists the peace summit should be held by the end of February at the United Nations, with Secretary-General António Guterres as mediator. In his words; "Every war ends in a diplomatic way," the foreign minister said. “Every war ends as a result of the actions taken on the battlefield and at the negotiating table".

 

Kuleba has informed the press tha Russia must face a war crimes tribunal before his country holds direct talks with Moscow. He said, however, that other nations should feel free to engage with Russians, as happened before a grain agreement between Turkey and Russia. It remains to be seen what the outcome of this peace treaty would be, but Kuleba has praised the mediation prowess of the United Nations Secretary-General, and has expressed his satisfaction with the Ukrainian president's visit to United States of America.
