The Southern Kaduna crisis

The Southern-Kaduna crisis is constantly rocking the middle-belt region state of the country, so severely for almost the past decade. In the past few weeks, gruesome and unimaginable atrocities have been committed (especially in the Christian dominant areas of the state).

 

Over the past 7, getting to 8 years, insurgency has thrived within the present administration, largely unchecked. It has almost become so much of the norm that, kidnappings, highway robberies, religious killings, political violence and the likes are so quickly swept under the national rug, that a mere few days after such acts occur, everyone moves on with their lives and accept the order of things, like it was expected an not to trifled with. Insurgency as a whole, since the APC came into power has snatched the lives of approximated millions in Nigeria, and yet, the end of these vile acts is still not for seen.

 

It was a strong point in the election campaigns of the party, as far back as 2015, pointing towards the military experience of the President, Muhammadu Buhari as a fortitude to drive Nigeria out of insurgency, but the situation has only worsened and has even opened up loop holes to more unchecked crime. The present crisis in Kaduna has claimed lives clocking to hundreds of thousands, and it is more worrisome that not a pin has been lifted in the prevention or the complete tackling of these insurgency issues. Nigerians are beginning to lose faith in the seriousness with which the APC administration holds the lives and properties of their citizens.
